Our recommendation when heating water

If you choose to buy an electric heater, we recommend the following:

Given its high ±120W power consumption and the limited amount of electrical energy in a camper van, we tell you how we would make use of a kettle like this:

  1. Fill a ceramic mug with water to make an infusion or coffee
  2. If you have a solar panel, put it in the sun to recharge the batteries, otherwise connect the heater to the car's cigarette lighter and start the car.
  3. If possible, switch off other high-consumption electrical appliances that are in operation.
  4. Then plug the kettle into the burner and use it. If you have not followed any of the above steps, don't worry, although they consume a lot of energy, they are only in operation for a few minutes.
  5. Once used, leave to cool, then dry and store.
  6. Enjoy your hot drink!

Can they be used to heat the water in the shower?

Maybe! We haven't tried it, but considering that a 200ml cup takes about 10 minutes, a 5 litre carafe would take about 5 hours, it's not bad. Now, no do we know if these products can withstand such prolonged operation? y have no safety mechanism, so if we forget to switch it on it can cause serious problems for a van's installations.
