You should not buy your trip to Cabo de Gata before reading this page because...

No one else can teach you Cabo de Gata the way we can

I will tell you why I say this:

If you are fed up with the morning traffic, the stress of work, the noise of the ambulances...

...the bells of the church next to your house ringing every hour:

"talan, talan, toon, toon, toon, tan, tan, din, don, dan".

The noise of the metro, the motorbikes, the cars...

And had it ever crossed your mind to do a different and relaxing trip this summer, you might be interested in what I have to tell you.

The neighbour is drilling again.... Noooooooo!
Where are we going this holiday if it's so crowded?

Here's why: My name is Ana Martín, and a couple of years ago (last September) my partner (Felipe) and I...

…. we were
desperate to find a quiet beach in Andalusia for a few days of relaxation.

He had had a stressful year.

We had lived:

  • A move from one city to another.
  • The search for a new job.
  • Helping a relative to buy a flat.
  • Reforms.
  • Assimilate the new job.
  • Our venture.
  • A new master's degree.

This resulted in hours of sleeplessness, shortness of breath, and some chest tightness.

I remember one particular day I was walking down the street when the phone rang.

It was the relative he was helping with the purchase of his flat.

He wanted to ask me for some very simple advice on this issue, but I was so overwhelmed that I just cried.

I couldn't take it any more.

After that, Felipe and I decided to stop.

We needed fresh air.

We started to to look for places with beaches for a mini-holiday near Malaga. (because this city was full of tourists and noise in the middle of summer).

Fortunately

We found a haven of peace that seemed to be an oasis that was not yet too exploited (if you went in the right month).

Later, we came up with a "crazy way" on how to travel to this place (if you didn't have many days of holiday)

This would be such a relaxing way to travel, that it could lead to an immense disconnection..

What's more.

Travelling in this way "crazy way". It could generate so much relaxation that you could even forget what you were working on (which at that time we were madly attracted to).

Am I exaggerating? Maybe, but I'd rather you read on and draw your own conclusions.

How relaxing my God!

What was clear was that if we wanted to avoid the overcrowding on the beaches of Andalusia we were not going to be able to travel in the middle of August.

We have finally come to an agreement.

So,

We decided to wait until September. A much more interesting month for a trip to the south of Spain.

The climate is amazing and you can still swim in the sea. You can also stroll through the villages without getting too hot.

In August you can end up red. Like a shrimpI'm not exaggerating. And really, we didn't want our holiday to be derailed by the heat.

Let's travel in September (we said to ourselves). Perfect, we already had the month. We already had the month (you always have to start with something).

We thought about going to Cabo de Gata. It was not clear to us what this place was like.

All we knew was that it was a very deserted place but which had incredible beaches.

So, we rented a flat and went.

When we reached the sea, the first thing we did was to take a dip and enjoy a breathtaking sunset.

We practically had the beach to ourselves. It seemed that we would have booked it with an app exclusively for deserted beaches.

The next day we went snorkelling and I saw one of the most incredible sights of my life.

Thousands of goldfish. It was as if I was in an underwater botanical garden full of different flowers. And this wonder was only two and a half hours away from Malaga.

Here we are barefoot on a Cabo de Gata beach
What a relaxxxxxx!😌
Oh Mari, this is the real life!

When I looked out of the car window, I noticed that there were several motorhomes travelling around.

I was not surprised.

I thought it was a great place to go in a camper van. Dozens of wild and paradisiacal beaches, a perfect climate, coves with turquoise and transparent waters.

A place that was not overcrowded at all, as was the case in places I had been to on other holidays.

But when I was most at ease, enjoying the sunsets, sunrises and the beach, I had to go back to the flat...

A flat which, by the way, was indoors, as getting a flat near the beach cost an arm and a leg.

So, it was back to rest (to take a nap), to eat (so as not to be constantly spending in restaurants) or to take a shower (to go back out for another excursion).

It's a pain in the ass.

At that moment I knew.

I wanted to go back there, but this time I didn't want to stay in a flat in Cabo de Gata. I wanted to live the camper experience there.

It is also one of the best-preserved natural parks in Spain.

I wanted to do the same as those expert motorhomers and van drivers who took their little house with them wherever they went.

Take a nap with a view of a village, take a shower near a cove or eat with a view of the sea.

Why didn't I get a camper? Damn it...

I also wanted to feel free in this little piece of Spanish paradise that still seemed to be a little secret from mass tourism.

I'm telling you all this because Felipe and I...

...we have created an express campervan and group trip around Cabo de Gata you might be interested in, where:

You can relax in an oasis of unspoilt beaches, meet new people and experience the camper world in a completely different way.

But do attend.

You don't have to have a camper van to come on this trip (we provide the vehicles for you).

If you already have a van you can write to us and after we send you a form that you will need to fill inWe will let you know if you meet the requirements to join this adventure.

What difference does it make between renting a camper and go on your own, to book our trip?

Ozu, what an illusion, kids...I really didn't expect this!

I will cut to the chase.

Our way of travelling in a camper van is nothing like renting one of these vehicles on your own.

I'll explain it better with a simile.

In a way our trip would be a surprise birthday party.

You arrive home and your best friends are waiting for you to blow out the candles.

You didn't expect it and yet the day is possibly one of the best days of your life.

<>

Renting a camper van where you get the keys and you left alone in the face of "danger".

It would be something like...

.... if you were at home:

  • Blowing up the balloons.
  • Opening the worms.
  • Preparing the fries.
  • Calling your friends to find out where they are.
  • Buying the cake.
  • Cleaned the house...etc

Rather than relaxing, it can be quite stressful.

I mean, don't I?

It's a relaxing trip (we will organise the party for you)...

...while having a great time (with your partner or your friends plus other new friends you don't know yet, but will meet)

And travelling in this way works for relaxation.

What's more.

Un report in English entitled Green and Blue Spaces and Mental Health [Green and blue spaces and mental healthWorld Health Organisation...

...demonstrates that Spending time in nature improves mood, mindset and mental health.

In fact.

Research shows that the exposure to forests, parks, gardens or coastlines can even promote physical activity.

yyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy....

Wait there's more!

They can provide opportunities for social interaction, places "to relax and leave everyday stress behind for a while".

Hey, if the studies say so, I'm going to the beach...
Someone pinch me!!!!

Without further ado, I present to you:

Cabo de Gata express:

This is an organised group trip where we will all travel in vans.r.

Specifically, you will travel in a convoy of about 5 Volkswagen California (of the modern kind)

or with yours (if you already have a camper)*.

Could it be any more picturesque? I don't think so.

You can travel with your partner, your friend or up to three other friends. There will be four other vans going on the trip.

Felipe and I will be in the first van, coordinating that everything goes well.

You will do activities such as snorkelling, lying on the beach to relax and disconnect from everyday life.

You will have free moments to enjoy with the person(s) you have come on the trip with and enjoy other times with the whole group.

Amiiiiiiiigassss! What an illusionnnn. By the way, the one in the second van is very handsome, isn't he?

The Volkswagen California will have comprehensive travel insurance.

Even if something happens during the journey, they will exchange it for another vehicle so that you can continue your adventure.

IMPORTANT: Although this is a relaxing trip, a campervan is not like what you see on instagram or Facebook.

It is a smaller space than your home, which you will have to adapt to.

You'll get a bit out of your comfort zone (but that's what the camper world is all about, isn't it?).

It is an experience that will teach you the beauty of the simple life.

It is ideal if you come with your partner because you can make the excuse that since the camper is a smaller place...

...you have to sleep a little more a-pre-ta-ta-di-tos. You know what I mean...😏

(although the beds measure: the upper one 200 x 150 cm and the lower one 195 x 115 cm. But that will be a secret between the two of us)

And if you come plus 3 friends (who are would be ideal because you will save around 400 euros. in total that you can spend on petrol, meals or whatever you want)....

... don't worry because you will have two beds so you can sleep two and two.

You may find that at night you can't resist telling each other jokes in hushed whispers while laughing your heads off.

Believe me when I tell you that you will probably remember this adventure for the rest of your life.

Well, believe it or not, that's for you to decide.

Attention: About us we will not go as tour guides, i.e. we won't say something like:

"This place was built in the 17th century by King Joseph III, cousin of Ignatius II and Marie Antoinette VIII after the Mitochondrian wars".

We are not experts in that and that is why we will not do it that way. However, we will tell you some anecdotes we know about some of these places.

Our mission is to accompany you and coordinate the smooth running of your trip.

What does this mean?

We will be the ones who will be telling where we have to go, at what time we have to leave to get to the contracted activities?

...we will advise you on the best places to go during your free time.

We'll also offer you some fun activities to keep you laughing, as well as helping you on the trip if you need it.

Well then. That said, here is the itinerary:

Itinerary: 4 days and 3 nights

Day 1

The one about "Oh, I'm so nervous!"

The trip starts in Malaga where we will meet up to take our little houses on wheels and head towards Cabo de Gata.

We will meet early this first day, so a good idea would be to spend the night before in Malaga. This is a wonderful opportunity to get to know this city.

A city that appears on countless lists in magazines such as Forbes or National Geographic as the best city to live in the world. What less than a visit to it!

An ice-breaker game that will make you laugh out loud.

I have created a very simple game to break the ice. that will make us laugh out loud and get to know each other right then and there.

We will do this over a simple and tasty welcome snack.

Don't worry. It won't be anything like having to say your name while everyone stares at you and sweat drips down your forehead. It will be very, very simple, but fun. So much so, that it will be suitable for everyone (even the shyest people) to have a great time.

A place that will take away your stress in one fell swoop: Yes After lunch, if we feel like it and we have time, we will spend some time to see a very long beach with turquoise waters (600 metres of beach).

It will be the perfect place to rest for a while and start to turn your skin golden. (Plus, if you feel like it, you can try what it's like to have a snack in your Californian camper with sea views).

The camouflaged lighthouse.
You will visit one of the oldest lighthouses in Almeria and you will learn about one of the curiosities that this place has (I would never have imagined it).

The most mysterious place in Almería. We will visit a place that has left a beautiful legend behind it. A legend that gave the place its name and that you will discover on the first day of this adventure.

Day 2

The Deep and the High!

You will understand why going to Cabo de Gata and not visiting its depths is usually for a beginner traveller (I'm not exaggerating).

You will sail in a boat (manned by a specialist). which will show you a part of the Cabo de Gata coast from a different perspective and you will have the opportunity to see some of the little goldfish that live in these waters and invite you to see their home.

You will have the lunch break free to visit one of the most famous localities of this place. San José.

This will be a time to relax, eat, have an ice cream, visit the markets, relax on the beach or have a quiet meal in your camper van, where you can take a short nap or read a part of your favourite book.

In the afternoon, you and the people you have come on the trip with will be able to explore some of the most beautiful places in the area. spectacular beaches in the area. Coves with turquoise waters, one of the most beautiful villages of Cabo de Gata (La isleta del moro) or some of the wild beaches in the surrounding area.

It's a great opportunity to explore the camper world on your own and discover what it's like to "stop wherever the wind takes you".

(We will advise you on the best places in the area for this or we will all go together, depending on what each one of us wants).

You will not only get to know the depths of Cabo de Gata, but also the heights. What? I beg your pardon? No, no, no, no, I have vertigo.

Espeeeera, don't get ahead of yourself. After dinner we're going on a date with the stars. I know it sounds corny, but I'm not kidding.

We will visit one of the most beautiful skies in Spain, accompanied by an expert who will explain the stars you will be seeing at that very moment. All this sitting on one of the best wild beaches in the area.

Day 3

The one with the unspoilt beaches

✔
This day you can enjoy waking up in peace and quiet.
You'll spend the day on one of the world's most pristine beaches.

Not only for the beauty of its exterior, but for what you will see beneath its waters. I won't tell you much more. You'll have to come to see it.

Free and quality time to enjoy with your partner or your friends. either by taking a stroll through one of the surrounding villages while enjoying the markets and a beautiful sunset or in one of the most luxurious campsites in the area or wherever you feel like it.

Pizza night. You will enjoy a delicious pizza (on the house) in one of the most beautiful and atmospheric (relaxed but lively) villages of Cabo de Gata.

  •
Day 4

The one where everyone wants to stay one more day.

Before returning to Malaga
, we will enjoy one last game to say goodbye to each other. Easy and fun (like the first day) to end the day with the best of sensations.

If you want to squeeze more out of the trip, stay longer (even if the group leaves around lunchtime), you will have the possibility to use the van all day for the same price..

If you choose this option, we recommend that you go to a beach that has nothing to envy to those of the Caribbean.

*There may be a change in the order of the itinerary depending on the availability of activities and local bookings.

And apart from this I have told you:

It's so nice here, I'm not going back home!

On the nights we can, we will meet next to our california vans.

Vans which, by the way, are of a very high standard.

Where we will spend an evening full of laughter, while we have dinner and tell funny stories of other trips or whatever comes to mind.

✔  You will make friendships that are likely to last for years and years.

There is a certain myth that the camper world means going off on your own and parking anywhere for the night.

But the reality is that it is a world with restrictions where You often risk a hefty fine for staying in a place where you shouldn't be.

On our trip you will sleep every night in quality campsites or private spaces, which have all the comforts and are totally safe.(and free of fines)

You will spend quality time with your friends or partner. (something very difficult on a day-to-day basis, but very important and often overlooked).

You will disconnect from your routine by trying a completely different experience in a natural environment full of wide open spaces.

The garden of your house will be a beach, a village or a cove.

Warning! You might even forget where you work, so make sure you write it down on a post-it note before you leave the house.
